SUNS International Recalls Residential Elevator Interlock Switches Due to Fall and Crushing Hazard; Risk of Death or Serious Injury

SUNS International is recalling SS6291 Solenoid Interlock Switches used in residential elevators because the switch can get stuck in a retracted position, leaving the exterior elevator door unlocked. If the elevator is then called to another floor, someone standing at the open shaft could fall in or be crushed, a risk of death or serious injury.

What is recalled
SUNS International SS6291 Solenoid Interlock Switches installed in residential elevators. Affected units were produced from August 20, 2024, through November 6, 2025, with date codes 2431 through 2543. The switch measures approximately 10 inches by 2 inches and weighs about 2 pounds. The brand name "SUNS," the model number (SS6291), and the date code are printed on a label on the side of the unit.
