Chrysler is recalling certain 2023 to 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE and 2024 to 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4XE plug-in hybrid vehicles because debris inside the engine can cause engine failure. This can lead to a sudden loss of drive power, a crash, or an engine compartment fire.

What is recalled

Certain 2023 to 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE and 2024 to 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4XE Plug-In Hybrid Electric (PHEV) vehicles. Chrysler's recall number is 78C. Affected VINs became searchable at NHTSA.gov beginning November 13, 2025.

You're affected if you own a 2023, 2024, or 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE, or a 2024 or 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4XE PHEV. Check your 17-digit VIN at NHTSA.gov (search "25V766000") to confirm your specific vehicle is included.

What to do right now

Take your vehicle to a Jeep dealer for a free software update and, if needed, a free engine block or full engine replacement. Owner notification letters were mailed starting May 7, 2026, with additional letters to follow once the final remedy is ready. You can also call Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403 and reference recall number 78C.
