Hyundai IONIQ 5 N Brake Software Recall 2025

2025 HYUNDAI IONIQ 5: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:POWER ASSIST:ELECTRIC:CONTROL MODULE:SOFTWARE

Updated February 6, 2025

Certain 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 "N" vehicles are being recalled because a software flaw in the braking and vehicle control systems can reduce braking performance when the left-foot braking (LFB) feature is active. Longer stopping distances significantly increase the risk of a crash.

Is the Hyundai Motor America recalled? Yes. This product was recalled by NHTSA on February 6, 2025. Details below.

What is recalled

2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 "N" vehicles equipped with the left-foot braking (LFB) feature. The affected systems are the integrated electronic brake (IEB) and vehicle control unit (VCU) software. NHTSA recall number: 25V-065 (superseded by 25V-235). Hyundai internal recall number: 275.

Am I affected

You're affected if you own a 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 "N" that has the left-foot braking (LFB) feature. Check your vehicle's model trim and feature list, or look up your VIN at the NHTSA recall lookup tool (nhtsa.gov/recalls) or contact Hyundai directly to confirm.

What to do right now

Do not use the LFB feature until the software update has been performed at a dealership. If you have already had work done under the original recall (25V-065), also stop using the "N" E-shift feature, your vehicle still needs the updated remedy under the replacement recall 25V-235. Take your vehicle to a Hyundai dealer for a free IEB and VCU software update. Owner notification letters were mailed March 12, 2025. Contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 with any questions.
