2025 FORD EXPLORER: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS

The Dynamic Bending Light system in certain 2025-2026 Ford Explorer vehicles may cause the passenger-side headlight to turn in the wrong direction during curves, creating glare that increases crash risk. Ford will update the headlight control module software for free.

You're affected if you own a 2025 or 2026 Ford Explorer. Check your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on NHTSA.gov (searchable since March 5, 2026) or contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332 with your VIN to confirm. Recall number is 26C12.

What to do right now

Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 to schedule a free software update for your headlight control module. The update can be done at a dealer or through an over-the-air update. Owner notification letters were mailed March 23, 2026.
