Ford Maverick & Bronco Sport Block Heater Recall
2026 FORD BRONCO SPORT: EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:ENGINE BLOCK HEATER
Updated April 14, 2026
Ford is recalling certain 2025 Maverick and 2026 Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with an engine block heater because the heater can overheat while plugged in and parked, raising the risk of a fire.
Is the Ford Motor Company recalled? Yes. This product was recalled by NHTSA on April 14, 2026. Details below.
What is recalled
2025 Ford Maverick and 2026 Ford Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with a 1.5L or 2.0L MPC engine and a factory engine block heater. Ford's internal recall number is 25S52; NHTSA recall number is 26V239 (expands prior recall 25V343). Specific VINs are searchable at NHTSA.gov.
Am I affected
You're affected if you own a 2025 Ford Maverick or a 2026 Ford Bronco Sport that came equipped with a 1.5L or 2.0L MPC engine and a factory engine block heater. Check your VIN at NHTSA.gov using recall number 26V239 to confirm whether your vehicle is included.
What to do right now
Do not plug in your block heater until your vehicle has been repaired. Ford dealers will replace the block heater, and inspect and replace the electrical cord if needed, free of charge. You may also choose to have the block heater element replaced with a threaded plug and the electrical cord removed entirely. Watch for Ford's interim safety letter (mailed May 11, 2026) and a follow-up letter when the remedy is available, expected in June 2026. Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 to schedule your repair or get more information.
