Ford Maverick & Bronco Sport Block Heater Recall

2026 FORD BRONCO SPORT: EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:ENGINE BLOCK HEATER

Updated April 14, 2026

Ford is recalling certain 2025 Maverick and 2026 Bronco Sport vehicles with an engine block heater because the heater can overheat while plugged in and the vehicle is parked. An overheated block heater raises the risk of a fire.

Is the Ford Motor Company recalled? Yes. This product was recalled by NHTSA on April 14, 2026. Details below.

What is recalled

Certain 2025 Ford Maverick and 2026 Ford Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with a 1.5L or 2.0L MPC engine and an engine block heater. Ford's recall number is 25S52; NHTSA recall number is 26V239 (expanding previous NHTSA recall 25V343). You can look up your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) at NHTSA.gov to confirm whether your vehicle is included.

Am I affected

You're affected if you own a 2025 Ford Maverick or a 2026 Ford Bronco Sport that has a 1.5L or 2.0L MPC engine and came equipped with an engine block heater. Check your VIN at NHTSA.gov or call Ford at 1-866-436-7332 to confirm.

What to do right now

Stop plugging in your block heater immediately until your vehicle has been repaired. Take your vehicle to a Ford dealer, who will replace the block heater (and inspect and replace the electrical cord if needed) free of charge. You may also choose to have the block heater element replaced with a threaded plug and the electrical cord removed. Ford mailed interim safety notices on May 11, 2026; full remedy parts are expected in June 2026. Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 to schedule your repair.
