2025 BMW X7, 2025 BMW X6, 2025 BMW X5: SEAT BELTS:FRONT

Certain 2024 and 2025 BMW X5, X6, X7, XM, and Alpina XB7 vehicles have a faulty seat belt detection system that may not alert you to an unbelted passenger or trigger the airbag system properly in a crash. BMW will replace the front seat belt system free of charge.

You're affected if you own a 2024 BMW XM or a 2025 BMW X5, X6, X7, or Alpina XB7 (any trim listed above). Check your vehicle's model year and trim on your registration or door jamb.

What to do right now

Contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-2741 to schedule a free inspection and replacement of your front seat belt system. Owners were mailed notification letters starting July 12, 2024.

The hazard

A seat belt warning light that does not alert occupants of an unbelted seat belt or an SRS system that deploys improperly can both increase the risk of injury in a crash.
