2026 BMW X1, 2026 BMW X2, 2025 BMW X1 and more: SEAT BELTS:FRONT:RETRACTOR

BMW is recalling 2025-2026 X1 and X2 models, along with certain MINI Cooper and Countryman vehicles, due to damaged front seat belt retractors that may not restrain occupants properly in a crash. Dealers will replace both front seat belt retractors for free.

What is recalled

2025-2026 BMW X1, 2025-2026 BMW X2, MINI Cooper Convertible, MINI Cooper, MINI Countryman S ALL4, and 2025 MINI Countryman SE ALL4 vehicles with potentially damaged front seat belt retractors.

You're affected if you own a 2025 or 2026 BMW X1 or X2, or a MINI Cooper Convertible, MINI Cooper, MINI Countryman S ALL4, or 2025 MINI Countryman SE ALL4. Check your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on NHTSA.gov starting November 7, 2025, or contact BMW customer service to confirm.

What to do right now

Contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 to schedule a free replacement of both front seat belt retractors at a BMW dealer. Owner notification letters were mailed November 13, 2025.
