BMW and MINI are recalling certain 2025 to 2026 X1, X2, Cooper, Countryman, and Countryman SE vehicles because the front seat belt retractors may have been damaged during production and may not properly restrain occupants in a crash.

2025 to 2026 BMW X1 and X2, 2025 to 2026 MINI Cooper, 2025 to 2026 MINI Cooper Convertible, 2025 to 2026 MINI Countryman S ALL4, and 2025 MINI Countryman SE ALL4 vehicles. Check your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) against the searchable list on NHTSA.gov (updated November 7, 2025).

Contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 to schedule a free replacement of both front seat belt retractors at your nearest dealer. Owner notification letters were mailed November 13, 2025.
